And I agree on cónyugue... but I'll talk about that more in the original post I suppose.Speaking Boricuahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08821252487131187716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1010632436067858495.post-18508646946864769302008-09-22T13:13:00.000-04:002008-09-22T13:13:00.000-04:00Fran and Steve: FYI, you are right in that the ani...Fran and Steve: FYI, you are right in that the animal itself is "una rata": when speaking colloquially, though, "un rata" is a man who behaves like a rat (it can apply to someone who says snarky things and doesn't mind his manners too much). ;-)

Like you, I will also keep saying "cónyugue" because "cónyuge" just sounds WRONG. :-)

And I'm glad you liked El Ñame and hope you become regular visitors! :-)El Ratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03411991790452023920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1010632436067858495.post-3116608170206655772008-09-21T14:25:00.000-04:002008-09-21T14:25:00.000-04:00Thanks for the great link to the glossary! It not only sounds wrong, but vulgar, too! I'll continue saying cónyugue, or better yet, esposo(a), when appropriate. I wish they had the translation of “trillion”. I tried to apply the logic behind the translation of “billion” and I think it means that the government’s $700 billion (near one trillion) bailout, is in Spanish, not $700 billones, but $700 mil millones (casi un billón). Doesn’t sound as big. Also, el rata’s El Ñame is hilarious… FranFran and Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03936163125093417362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1010632436067858495.post-12583144402988705492008-09-20T09:44:00.000-04:002008-09-20T09:44:00.000-04:00Wow, thanks for the accolades: we're really glad y...Wow, thanks for the accolades: we're really glad you liked the article. :-)

All the best!El Ratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03411991790452023920noreply@blogger.com
