30,000 to be unemployed

I know I have been quiet for a little while, but I've been getting a lot of comments, some of them quite heated. Keep it up guys--a lot of you have really interesting perspectives.

Anyways, as I'm sure everyone is aware (at least by now), Governor Fortuño has announced that 30,000 government jobs will be cut to deal with the financial crisis. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, the government really needed to be downsized anyways. On the other hand, it's incredibly irresponsible of the government to throw all these employees out in the cold, especially considering there's no way most of them will be able to find jobs on the island at the moment (the unemployment rate is ridiculous). Impending disaster anyone?

Disaster indeed. As long as old colony continues implementing failed neo-colonial policies, the collapse is imminent.
The economy needs to be more spread about. All foreign entities are granted tax incentives that are ridiculous.
Aside from all this, there is a need to implement better birth control, be it through sexual education, free sterilization (both genders), etc. There is just oo many of us for such a small place.
Time to advocate and support local and regional (minus USA) economic cooperation.

I believe that the 30,000 people who will be retiring from the work force of the government will be those who have more 30 or more years of work in the government and who have not yet retired, those who are close to their 30 years of service who will be offered packages to retire, and 10,000 employees who were wrongfully and illegally employed by Anibal Acevedo Vila.

Unemployment rates are ridiculous everywhere..the economy is going down around the world...not just in Puerto Rico. People are losing their jobs everywhere...Not just in "La Isla del Encanto".

One way we can beat the system is by unity. We need to vote based on merit, NO POLITICAL party. It all go back to to saying "los perez son los perez y los rodriguez son los rodriguez". I allways asked my self Why are we soo divided ? why don't we unite and REBUILD our homeland like others. We have so much talent and ideas why dont we use them? We need to learn from others and teach, help, employ our own. Why don't we change things and rebuild us and unite to be a model race and demonstrate what we are capable of.
